Mr. Carlos de Azevedo earns approximately R$15,000.00 per month with his business which he operates with his wife Lucia Helena dos Santos Azeveda and his employee Mr. Francisco de Azeveda. People scavenge the city for recyclables to sell to businesses like this. Items such as aluminum cans, pieces of iron and any metals or plastics. The average pice paid for these materials is R$2.00 per kilo.This is daily life in Rio de Janeiro, and issues facing the only Portuguese speaking country in South America continue to plague it's citizens, such as poverty, poor healthcare and a crumbling infrastructure.
